Weight of the Sacred

During Semana Santa in southern Spain, brotherhoods carry immense religious floats through narrow streets in a centuries-old ritual of devotion.

Moving within the processions, this series focuses on the physical and emotional weight of the ritual—the faces of the costaleros beneath the float, the silent tension of penitents, and the fragile balance between endurance and faith.

Shot in black and white, the photographs explore the intimate gravity of belief carried collectively through the streets.
