Jerusalem. Annual Holy Fire ceremony at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
According to a centuries-old tradition, the Armenian Patriarch brings the key to the church, carrying it in a ceremonial procession through the Old City as has been done for generations, but does not open the door himself. The key is handed to a representative of the Waqf — the Islamic authority responsible for the site — who unlocks the gates, maintaining a neutral role between Christian communities.
The series follows the procession through the Old City, the charged moment of the key transfer, and the opening of the doors — a moment of heightened tension and anticipation as the crowd waits for the ceremony to begin.
